December 2009
10-6 tomorrow.
Then 1920s New Year’s Eve party.
Me so excited.
I never got a costume… like, it does bother me that I didn’t spend the money to get a costume, but as of right now, I don’t have that type of money to spend. Nick said that if I’m going to go all out for one of the 1920s parties, I might as well make it the Gatsby Party. So that will have to do. My...
Knitting for an hour can burn 100 calories.
While I can do that in under ten minutes on an eliptical, it is good to know that we spinsters-in-training have many options as to burning calories and getting into shape. Wunderbar.
Leaving for my oppression in a few minutes; missing my day off and my laziness already. Ah well! Bringing my clementine, books and some knitting in case the last two...
Matevana+Peppermint= A peppermint patty in my tea cup.
WAGGITY WAGH.
Going to be a lazy ass until I drag my ass to work. Maybe I’ll get up early tomorrow and work out. 10-6 shift on New Year’s Eve!
Wonderful Day
Absolutely a wonderful day.
Teavanna at Sommerset= THE BEST TEA THIS LADY HAS EVERY TASTED. Nick was so right. Full flavor. No watery taste. Smelling that tea is exactly like smelling the essential oils at It’s Perfume Oil; those are the most potent (and delicious!) herbs I have ever encountered. Best $16 I’ve spent on tea… and while I was not quite prepared to spend $12 on 2...
WAGH
I’m in pain that only a woman can understand.
(lol)
NOTHING IS GOING TO RUIN MY DAY OFF, DAMNNIT!!!!!!
On the bright side, being rudely awoken at 6:00 am by one’s body allows for an extended stay in a wam bath, followed by re-snuggling in a warm and snuggly bed with the iPod set to 89x in the morning (…I really love Dave and Chuck the Freak…), dozing in and out until...
I got a few pages into ‘Pride and Prejudice’ at work tonight.
I admit: I enjoy it. So all of you females who have been yelling at me to read Jane Austen, it’s happening, ok?!?!?!?!?!?
Though I am still reading Gatsby… cannot leave my Jay Gatsby for Elizabeth Bennett.
Officially, I do not work until Wednesday. Squeal. Adventures tomorrow with the boyfriend. I am...
I freaking want the library from ‘Beauty and the Beast’. That is the...
– Erin and Racheal at work, on the topic of expanding our personal libraries.
Watchin’ the snowflakes falling outside, going to the gym soon. Yadda yadda yadda.
DAY OFF TOMORROW!!!! Nick and I are going to SOMMERSET!!! And LA CAFE!!!! So I hope this stupid snow lets up, because I don’t want to drive down to Big Beaver in crap.
I analyzed it with Nicole. Even if you’re broke, walking around Sommerset makes you feel rich. “You walk with your head...
So I did it. I went to Forever 21 and bought that little green plaid dress and gray oversized cardigan… and three pairs of black tights.
It felt right. And adorable.
:D
Can I just say that I love this poncho?
Oh, and my dad thought it was awesome, too. Says I’m lucky Alex didn’t see it first. :D
Sin City is on.
I can stay awake a little longer.
So, here I am on our couch, wearing this very large, warm, hand-woven, gray and cream striped poncho from Mexico. Why am I wearing this? Because Nick’s dad has been in Mexico for several months, and he spent a long, grueling time trying to decide what to bring back for his family. He decided that this beautiful poncho would be appreciated...
Funnily, I feel like this probably happened in... →
My cousin is getting married on June 19th. She wants me to do a reading at the wedding (they are Catholic). I was actually pretty excited.
But my mom and I are going to start the epic challenge of looking fabulous by the 19th of June. AKA strenuous exercise, eating right, finding that perfect dress, maybe even dropping a dress size here or there… fun times! I really want us to do it...
Oi!
Another Christmas morning gone and passed!
Welcome to the new purple iPod Nano. :D I cannot get over how badass this thing is. SOOO MANY FUN THINGS!!!! Radio, it plays music without the headphones, video camera… AND IT’S PURPLE. :D I’m happy.
TWO HUGE JARS OF NUTELLA. Bad… bad… but oh so good.
A day-by-day calendar… WITH KNITTING PATTERNS. Hello and hello...
Whoot!
I’m staring at my brother wearing his new sweater. He loves it.
I FINALLY OWN A COPY OF THE GREAT GATSBY BY F. SCOTT FITZGERALD!!! Thanks, Alex!!!!
(Andrea and I are hosting a Gatsby Birthday Extravaganza for our 20th birthdays)
Joy.
Have I ever told you about my undying love for children choirs? Particularly boys’ choirs? Because on GMA right now is a combined choir of the Philadelphia Boys Choir and old men. It’s very pretty to listen to.
Happy Christmas Eve! If I see any of you shopping at the mall today, I’ll come after you!!! Not really. I may bring cookies to work, so if anything I’ll chase...
It was a good night at work. Over $2500. Huzzah. My tootsies are sore, but I surprisingly really got into it, even when we got out a half hour late because of late customers. Plus, free sushi. Mhm.
Is Christmas eve really tomorrow? I guess so. We’ll get to see how Alex likes his sweater.
I would give him a second chance after this... →

Today is a good day for the Kelly family.
Lepuma’s in Rochester with my dad and Alex. We go every year… except we didn’t go last year. It was a tragedy. It’s an old, little, teeny tiny coney that my dad has been going to since he was a bitty bopper, so it’s a darling little tradition that if I stick around in Michigan, I’ll give my waistline a break for one...
Hang on.
I think I just got straight As this semester.
(waiting for the 24th when I’ll get my final grades, but my transcript says all As…)
Snap Dizzle!
Only working 3-9 tonight, meaning I get out an hour before the mall closes. SWEET NECTAH.
Sad, right? Mall workers would understand. I seriously might take that hour and go to Forever 21 to find the dress that I might buy for the various 1920s parties I’ll be attending this year and next yeat… as well as other cute clothes. I’m going to make a bitch load of money this winter,...
I love this: We would do anything to get a job, but when we have the job, all we want to do is get out.
The schedule is written up until next Monday so far. The only day off I have is Christmas. Meaning I have to skip the Kelly Christmas party the day after Christmas. This is more upsetting to me than I realized. I barely get to see my dad’s side of the family anymore. It honestly feels...
True Story
I’m addicted to Degrassi: The Next Generation.
And I have no shame.
OZOMG!!!!!
I met the triplets last night!!! Nick’s three little cousins, Madison, Kaylen, and Sydnie. Oh myyyyyyyy gooooooooood, they were so adorable. Just the perfect little balls of joy, soft skin, and baby chubbies. I just wanted to snuggle them. I got to hold Kaylen twice, but she gets nervous around people she doesn’t know.
AFDSHGKSJAORBJFDKGH. The cutest little babies ever… Power...
Nicole called to tell me that I’ll pretty much be working every day.
Good-bye, family traditions and childhood. Hello working Christmas eve. Bleh.
We must all grow up eventually. I’ll see my full schedule tomorrow to see what I’m really up against. Money, right? If I get a raise, maybe?
The book buying has already begun. My future American Lit I prof just emailed us all saying that the UBS has only 25 copies of our book. So I did the logical thing and hopped onto Brian’s Books’ website and got a still-expensive-but-still-less-than-the-UBS-used-price used bundle of anthologies. I said I’d pick it up in store. I hope they will hold it until January…
...
I know it’s love. Here’s why:
Nick’s car has been acting a bit flaky lately, and he was forced to drive 65 mph on the highway (depression, right?). I chose to drive 65 mph with him. The entire 2.5 hours, he was behind me or I was behind him, and we would chase each other and pass with each other and we eventually stopped at a rest stop and bought from-the-vendor coffee and...
SWEATER. IS. DONE.
(aside from blocking)
Aaaaaand, I picked up more yarn today for Andrea’s hat and Floyd’s hobo gloves. Merry Christmas! And thank you, Hobby Lobby.
I think the sweater turned out awesome. I am actually proud for once.
Watching ‘Say Yes to the Dress’.
I love wedding dresses. I hate finicky, bitchy families/friends of the bride making the sales people feel like crap. I feel that, if it were my wedding, I’d probably go in there and treat these ladies like they are goddesses. The work and effort and talent they have is pretty phenomenal.
Yes, I just had a religious awakening by watching a show...
SLEEVES!!!! I’m sorry. No, I’m not. I’m exuberant as to how Alex’s sweater is turning out. I’m sewing the sleeves on tomorrow night. BITCHES.
Because I luf knitting. In the end, it is something I will always do. Like how, even though I’m not studying music anymore, the musician in me is still alive. The knitter in me is always going to live on. It is not just...
DONE
Done for the fall. I am ecstatic.
I’m still tutoring on Friday. And I didn’t have to work today. BUT I AM DONE!!!
Party hard. IPAs all around (just kidding… or am I?)
Creative Writing is over.
I am such a sad person right now. By the end, our class could hardly believe how close we were to each other. What a wonderful class.
Plus, Allison and I acted out my ten minute scene with Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White meeting each other accidentally at a sex therapist’s office. Grumblesaurus says: “Good Grumble.”
Ich habe meinen Deutsch...
Can I just say?
That the sleeves of Alex’s sweater just need to be sewn on.
And then I block.
And then Alex has a hand-knit-by-his-super-epic-sister-sweater-for-Christmas Christmas Sweater.
And for once, I am really… REALLY proud of this one. Happy day.
(which means I’ll be spending every minute after my WRT 219 class to my GER 101 exam studying German. Sacrifices must be made)
Hey there, German… could you study yourself?
Just kidding… I’ll crack down in a titch.
Grumblesaurus!!!
is tired.
I looked at the work schedule, and I wasn’t scheduled for the second shift I signed up for on Wednesday. Technically all employees must work two shifts during exam week or our jobs are dead. So after I’m done washing dishes for three hours, I need to talk to somebody to make sure I can still have a job (if Kleiner never calls…) as a call-in next semester. Nick thinks...
$98.25
Book buy-back.
I squealed a little in my head.
Off to sell back the majority of my books. Knowing I will probably get 15 dollars total. BLEH.
And out of that 15 dollars, I’ll need $3.95 to buy my favorite black pens to write for ENG 226 today. SUPER BLEH.
But… we can do this!
You know those deep inner ear itches that, no matter how hard you try, you cannot ease them by scratching? This girl’s left ear. All day.
Good news: FOUND MY YARN NEEDLE. The shoulders are sewn and the collar has been made, and I’m getting pretty excited. It looks great so far.
Bad news: About a week of terrible food and no gym for this lady is making me feel yucky. Thank you, end...
